Having a Party?

LIVE MUSIC for celebrations of all kinds!
String of Pearls is a popular and trusted choice of hosts/hostesses and event planners. Sized at eight members, the group is big enough to provide richness and variety, but small enough for intimate private parties.  We can also provide a 3 - 5 person combo for smaller rooms and gatherings.

Style
Pearls bridges the generation gap. The band's extensive repertoire features great tunes of the swing era, plus danceable favorites from the pop, jazz, Latin, Dixieland, ballroom dance and (if desired) soft and classic rock traditions. We bring new life to familiar tunes, with fresh arrangements and interpretations that appeal to many audiences. Vocals by Connie Anne and Don add further color.

Events
Pearls performs frequently for private affairs, such as wedding receptions, anniversary parties, reunions, ballroom dance clubs, country club dinner dances, conventions, open houses, and company parties. We provide a choice of background, dance, or concert (show) music, or a combination as called for.

Voted "Best Local Band" by Palo Alto Weekly reeaders The Palo Alto Weekly annually surveys readers' opinion on the area's "best" restaurants, shops, destinations, and services. In 2001, a Local Band category was added. String of Pearls came in first. For more, click www.PAWeekly.com, scroll down to links at bottom of page, and click on "Best of."

Name Recognition
String of Pearls is the area's "Best Band" according to the 2001 Palo Alto Weekly poll.
In addition to playing for private events, Pearls is known from over 200 public appearances at concerts, nightclubs, festivals, and dances. These include the grand finale of the City of Palo Alto's Centennial celebrations, the Palo Alto Concours d' Elegance, the 1998 Mirassou Vineyard Wine and Jazz Celebration, and outdoor concerts in Belmont, Burlingame, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Menlo Park, Milpitas, Mountain View, San Carlos, and San Jose.

String of Pearls has also been pictured in a number of newspapers and newsletters in relation to the release last September of our two albums, ''Makin' Whoopee!"(1997) and "Totally Swing!"(2000)  Available in both CD and cassette format, the albums are carried by Amazon.com

Cross Cultural Appeal
The band has made three US-China Friendship Tours (1999, 2001, 2002), involving 23 performances in 9 cities.  The program we developed for overseas audiences was enthusiastically recieved there and appeals to multi-ethnic listeners generally.

Adaptability
Though a name band, String of Pearls understands how to play a support role at private affairs. Connie Anne and the band realize that each event is unique, and tailor their playlist accordingly. The band also cooperates fully with the host/client during the event to enhance the enjoyment of guests. This sensitivity and flexibility brings the band many repeat referrals from wedding consultants, catering directors, and others who assist people in planning successful events.
